Manali is very safe, tourist-friendly and cheering place, but still, you need to take care of some preparations which can make your tour even better and memorable:
– All the major phone networks work in Manali. Only a few stretches near Rohtang, Hamta pass and Lahaul valley are network shadow areas.
– Keep ready a pair of woollen (not heavy) with you as the temperature may dip as low as 5 degrees any time even during summer months if rains for couple of days.
– If visiting in the winter season (late October to March), carry heavy woollens, proper shoes, thermal wears, cap etc to prevent the cold from annoying you.
– Don’t forget to carry photo id with you. Passport, Driving License, Aadhar and Voter Cards are valid photo IDs.
– While travelling in the mountains, keep drinking water and eating healthy food and fruits to avoid vomiting due to high altitude sickness, motion sickness and dizziness due to curvy roads. One who suffers from motion sickness should take medicine in advance and should sit in the front row of the vehicle.
– Carry headache, stomachache, anti vomiting tablets with you. Keep drinking water and fruits to avoid minor high-altitude sickness.
– Please respect the local Hindu and Buddhist culture of Manali. If visiting temples, follow the instructions and don’t roam around with shoes or leather wearings (shoes, belts, vallet etc.).
